Adams Fish & Chips

Welcome to the world of Adams Fish & Chips, a quaint little spot nestled at 21 Lower Bridge Street, Chester. This unassuming eatery beckons with the promise of classic British comfort food, from the crispy, golden battered fish to the beloved chips that accompany it. However, as I ventured into this culinary corner, I was met with a mixed bag of delights and disappointments.

  • Signature Dishes: The menu boasts a variety of offerings, from a generous Large Fish and Chips (Cod 68oz for £9.50) to traditional fare like the Jumbo Sausage and Chips (starting at £5.50). For those seeking something different, the Hot Chicken Wings and Large Breaded Wholetail Scampi also make an appearance, each serving a nod to the diverse palate.
  • Meal Deals: Adams caters to the ravenous with its Hangover Combo for £9.50 and Easy Combo for £8.50, presenting an affordable way to indulge in their menu's highlights.
  • On the Side: A variety of sides complement meals, including options like Mild Curry for £2.50 and Onion Rings for £2.00, rounding out the experience.

However, it seems that the charm of Adams Fish & Chips is overshadowed by glaring inconsistencies in service and quality. Recent reviews paint a troubling picture: diners have reported rubbery kebabs, undercooked chips, and a general feeling of neglect from the staff. One customer, Wendy Respen, noted a lackluster experience with a dry doner kebab that left her dining experience tarnished. Further complaints echoed sentiments of untrained staff and food that felt like a rushed job, leading to an overall unsatisfactory culinary experience.

While the charm of a local fish and chips joint often lies within its ability to deliver comfort and nostalgia, Adams Fish & Chips seems to be grappling with its identity. As a food reviewer, my heart is heavy at the thought that a venue with such potential is struggling to meet the expectations that come with traditional British fare.

Despite the drawbacks, there is hope yet for Adams Fish & Chips. The essence of any great dining experience is a willingness to learn and improve. It would benefit immensely from addressing the operational issues and focusing on their quality assurance, ensuring that every customer leaves with a full belly and a smile.

If you're in Chester and eager to explore, perhaps stop by to judge for yourself. Just be prepared for the unpredictability that can come with local dining establishments.

Me and my other half was staying in a hotel near here and I came across this place as we were both hungry. I ordered a large donner kebab and my husband went for the battered sausage and chips. My kebab was worthy to be the worst thing I have tasted, the meat was rubbery and dry and the pita bread felt and tasted like it had been sat on for a couple of days. My husbands sausage was no where near large enough for my liking. The chips were also cooked the night before. The portion sizes were laughable as we both got near to nothing. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!

Food of low quality, everything seemed a rush job, couldn't be bothered, chips undercooked and slimey (like the staff). On one occasion watched a member of staff boil a kettle and add the hot water to the mushy peas (need I say more). On another occasion the son of the owner tried to chat me up (I'm a bloke!)Overall a run down dive filled with unclean looking urchins of questionable character.AVOID! YOUR STOMACH WILL THANK YOU!
